Little Kid adventures in Keokuk Iowa

Today Treagan and I went up to Nauvoo to do a temple session. A couple weeks ago we heard a guy talking about how Keokuk, IA had tones of geodes. And Keokuk is only 20 minutes from Nauvoo so we decided we should go check it out! Apparently they have a mine you can pay to go in and they give you a bucket to fill with them. But we heard that they are closed when it rains and since we had a huge storms the past two days we figured it would be closed. But he said they were closed when he went so he just walked along the river at a park and found tons of them. Well after looking for this park for about 20 minutes we decided to stop at a gas station to ask them. We couldn't have picked a more perfect gas station. The lady told us of a local spot that people go to. We drove down this creepy, trashy road to this day care in the middle of no where. She told us to park in there then follow the rail road tracks for about a block into the woods. We both were a little creeped out but we kept going. Once we crossed over the railroad bridge we found the small river that we needed to climb down to. Oh and by the way the railroad bridge was so scary. The tar on it was so hot our feet were getting stuck to the wood and I had flip flops. Not a good combination. But we made it across and down to the river. There were geodes everywhere! We ended up bringing 57 home. ha ha ridiculous I know but Treagan was so excited he didn't want to stop looking. He really does become a little boy again sometime. I love it. By the time we got back to our car we had a big white piece of paper on it. We thought for sure it was a ticket. When we turned it over it said NO TRESPASSING PRIVATE PROPERTY. Wondering where the people came from and if they had called the cops or not we got out of there ASAP.

This is use during our adventure. Pictures were taking with Treags phone so not the greatest. But that is the scary bridge we walked across. Oh and a water snake swam over my foot. I FREAKED out. It really was quite an adventure! 

Now the trick is getting them open. It takes forever and we really don't have the best tools to do it with. Hopefully we will figure out a better method soon. Those are some of the ones we did get opened. Pretty fun!
