Nauvoo

My sister Ashlee came out to Iowa again to do hair! She had never been to Nauvoo before so we made sure we went this time. She was here for 5 days which made it much easier to make it there. We headed up Saturday morning so that we would have enough time to do everything we wanted to do. It was such a wonderful day. Crosky was being a good little boy finally. He had been screaming all week if Ash wasn't holding him. The first thing we did when we got up there was go on the Wagon ride.
The Wagon ride takes you around the town where Joseph lived as well as all the other saints. Our tour guide told us about each one of their houses, what happened in their house, as well as the little shops along the way. One of the most spiritual parts was riding down parley street. Our tour guide told us to turn around and look at the temple and imagine standing in line here to cross the Mississippi and leaving all of the behind. I truly can't imagine going through what all those amazing saints went through.
Next we took a carriage ride. The carriage ride takes you out into the country side and they tell you inspirational stories about some of the saints. I got teary eyed a few times on this ride. The spirit was so strong and I could just fell the spirits of all the saints with us. We got to go to one of the spots where Joseph used to go to think and be alone. What an amazing man he was! Doing all these things in Nauvoo only made my testimony of the gospel and Joseph Smith that much stronger!
After we went and took a tour of Joseph's house, the red brick house and the mansion. These are all owned by the Community of Christ church so you have to pay to go. But we are very glad we did. In Josephs house they have some of the original peaces of Josephs and Emma's. It was a great experience seeing where they lived and getting a better idea of what they went through.

We were the only people on the ride that early in the day! Luckily they still let us go. They have a rule of at least 6 people to do the ride but they let us count the kids as people. We happened to run into one of our friends from the ward. He and her husband were taking turns watching their son while the other one went into the temple. So we had her come along with us!

It really was such an amazing day. I'm so glad we got to take Ashlee up there because normally we go there and do a session then leave. So Treagan and I both really loved experiencing more then just the temple there!
